WorldOfWarcraft.com - The WoW homepage actually has a really good set of basic guides to the game and some more specific information on the specific battlegrounds, PvP rewards etc. Also has information on Classes including a talent calculator so you can work out where to spend those talent points.

Curse Gaming - The UI site. For all those funky mods and UI tweaks a guy or gal could ever want. And here's the UI FAQ from the official forums.

Thottbot and Allakhazam - Item database and all round reference site. Full of Quest info, if a particular quest has you stuck, look up the name of it on here. Also has info on skills and classes so you can look up what skills you're going to learn next as well as Profession information.

WoWWiki - Great site full of info on general game play, professions, lore etc.

Professions FAQ - So you picked your class and race, now you need to know about the professions. Necessary read. Great list of craftable items located here.

World Map - Interactive map with flightpaths and a whole host of info. Big image may be slow loading. Thanks Buck. NEW! Another one here, ta Lego.

It honestly depends on what class you're going to play.

If you're talking strictly UI mods, the person to talk to would be stoneh. He's the local UI God.
