Im with Virgin, its a great connection and i get on with them fine.
Fair play they are making a stand on this - the only people upset are those who download illegal content.
Downloading music off filesharing is just as bad as walking into a shop and pinching a CD.

i pretty much never use torrents, or any file sharing for that matter. that isnt the reason i hate them at all. i used to have a decent enough deal when it was NTL, and then when virgin bought them, my line never got upgraded like promised, my speeds got randomly capped for no reason, they have shit customer service (when i tried calling them to find out why my line was being capped i got some bullshit excuse about maintenance but then after the phone call it miraculously went back to how it should be, but only for a day or 2 then went shit again). all in all, i think i've been shafted by their crappy service for too long. for the amount of money i was paying i could get a better service and line from elsewhere, so now i just need to find it.

seem to remember something about pipex a while ago, anyone with them? are they still decent?

Tbh there will always be people that complain about each ISP. Everyone has bad and good experiences.
Im happy with my virgin connection, did get somewhat affected shortly after the changeover from ntl. However just recently had my free upgrade to 10Mb connection so that was quite nice. The traffic shapping thing is a bit of an arse but not seen it happen to much recently.

I wouldnt worry about this nonsense tho...i dare say virgin realise alot more than 800 of their customers are downloading music illegally and wouldnt dare risk loosing all the ones that are. Its merely a publicity stunt saying look we are good guys.
