Really powerful cards are dirt cheap now.

8800Gt for £100 , cant go wrong, or the new 9600 things.

I think the best bargain Ive seen is the older spec 8800 GTS 640mb for £80 or so at overclockers.

N+ is full of nasty people.

The old 8800GTS with the 320MB and 640MB are pretty much obsolete now, as the 8800GT as the G92 core, and the re-released the GTS with the G92 core too with 512MB RAM. Even though the 640MB is cheap, it's definatley worth spending that bit extra to get an 8800GT, or if not just get a 9600GT, which falls between the 8800GTS 640MB and the 8800GT.

Nvidia have kinda messed it all up atm really.

I dont see the point of making new 9 series cards that aren't as good as some of the old 8 series :<

because they want to suck the market brand dry!

It's obvious people will buy geforce9 just because a 9 is better than an 8 !

Because the new 9 series follows the same trend as every graphics card range in about the last 10 years, there's one for every budget.

You can't expect the budget 9 series to outperform top end 8 series.

finaly i upgrade my geforce 6800 to a 8800. both are asus and the new one will be this ASUSTeK Computer Inc. its just 207,- € for the best (i think?) geforce 8 card out there. mebe i can play aoc on a better optical level with that!

i find it kinda funny, i paid for the 6800 450 € ...

Any of the 8800's are great and can run every game well atm, apart from the 8800GTS 320/640.

The new core on the new cards, the high end one is called something like Geforce GTX 280 is supposed to be a proper next generation card, but we'll see.

I have an 8800 Ultra and it pisses on every game I throw at it !

Throw Crysis at it at max res with a tweaked config + ToD, it'll cry like a little girl!

i want to play crysis with directx10. but i dont want to install vista, any way around that using directx with xp ?

Playing Crysis on DX10 with a single 8800 is kinda crap. You get like 15-20fps and I get more fun from sticking needles in my eyes than playing games at that FPS.

I think crysis is more cpu powered than graphics.
