God knows how considering I have all my security settings at high, but I have managed to get a spyware thingy on my PC which keeps changing my home page to a website that sells spyware software, orly?, and putting up dummy virus alerts.

I have tried running adaware which found a shitload of of things and fixed them and I also have Norton antivirus running but still can't get rid of this shit.

Any ideas?

download eset smart security. You can use it for 30 days without paying....after which im sure youll think its worth the money

make sure you run a scan after installing ofc. It should remove whatever problems it finds after which you should be left with a blank homepage so change it back to whatever you like.

I also tried doing a system resore to a couple of days ago but it never worked either.

also check your add and remove programs list for anything dodgy. If you find something just remove it.

Ok found 2 applications that installed today but won't let me delete without a reboot. After reboot they are back again. Take it this is something fairly deep in root then?

shut off the system restory point shit if it's on, maybe thats why it keeps coming back because it's stored within it

indeed it can be hiding in system restore. Also does it let you scan and delete them the 2nd time without rebooting ? I had that the other day on a friends pc after i installed it....but then it did have to clear about 50 other viruses first lol.

Have you checked to see wether you can now set your homepage properly ?

Aye I have been able to remove the 3 items from programs now but I had to reboot before each one. I can also reset my home pages too although my cursor seems to be jumping about a bit, probably not related I hope.

Still waiting on e-mail from eset to try their product.

Oh yeah smitfraud is a nice one. A very cool program always worth having is security task manager. It lists all running tasks and lets you terminate them and also stop them starting again on reboot. It also lists them in threat order so if stopping it doesn't work you can at least search for it on Google once you know what it's called.
