First and for most i this is not some cleverly disguised racist topic, merely curious.

As is widely seen in sports, many are dominated by peeps of a certain colour(forgive me if i keep making comments like this, but there is only so many ways to say a particular skin pigment) sprinters, boxers and most sports that require large physical strength on the whole. Why is this? Is it because of genetic history that they have DNA that is better at forming muscles and body mass or is it merely that many of these people come from societies that becoming an athlete is the only way to make money?

I know that some of the poorer african countries excel at producing long distance runners and again i don't know where this talent comes from.

Can anyone tell me?

There's a racist joke in the states that goes along the lines of...

However, certain body types are predisposed to certain abilities, and certain races/heratiges/genetic lines tend to produce more of certain body types.

Well if you ask me I think its very simple,
dark coloured people are used to the heat, so therefore they can perform better at sports

im used to the cold, therefore I perform better in that temperature

Another curious thing is that there are no famous swimmers from "that race". I've heard talk in the past it is because of heavier bone density or something, but no doubt it is more likely to be because of no real competitive swimming organisations in many of the countries (obviously this only applies to again African places) Such as for winter sports (see Cool running film)

Getting involved in sports as a career choice may also be a more prevalent choice in different cultures due to it being a more valuable and realistic prospect dependant upon nation of origin.

For someone living in a 3rd world nation where sports is one of the few ways out of the poverty trap/lower quality of life, they're going to work at it a damn lot harder than someone in a first world country who just gets involved in sports for money/fame.

as far as the long distance runners go its the climate they train in which assists them. They are used to harsher running environments (higher altitude hot temperatures etc.), so they have to train alot harder to begin with and thus have an edge over the competition.
