| But the "foreigners have all the money for nurturing new talent" argument is bollocks. Just look at the top quality Africans that are playing in the Prem now - they didnt have the money or infrastructure in their country. You could say the same for Brazil, they have churned out a long list of the worlds best players for about 50 years now. Our kids have a good life, therefore have less "raw desire" to want to play at the top of the game. An English kid has the desire to play first class football cos of the money. An African or Brazilian wants the money yes, but has also had to graft like fuck in order to get to the top. |

| Its the sheer number of them, many that frankly have no place in ANY football team (andy van der meyde i'm looking at you here..35k a week and pisses most of it up a wall and simply doesnt play at all for my lot everton). UEFA for all its cack handedness had the right idea back in the 1990's clubs where forced to field a majority of home bred players with a select few making up the numbers, this IMO was the right way to go untill of course the fuckwits at brussells got involved and fucked football royaly. Honestly do you think Chelsea would have won the league with it the way it was back then? no they wouldnt becuase they wouldnt have been able to bring in every fucker who looked at a football. Foreign players have thier rightfull place here in the premiership of course they do but only the best and not the 90% of shit houses who come along earn big money and more importatly stop what little young talent thier is getting into a side.

| Yeah I am pleased with the way Fergie does things, he always gives the UK and Ireland players a fair chance and lots of them become regular and important players, take Wes Brown for example. Often he's joked about but without him this season we'd have struggled to win anything. I think a lot of the time, home grown players at the top clubs aren't happy about playing second fiddle to their foreign counterparts but to be fair they only do that because they're not as good most of the time. We never see any of them actually trying to improve and diversify their game to compete for places. They'd rather just go and play for Newcastle or something.

| Newcastle bashing..this thread took a turn for the better! Newcastle have actually slowly fucked themselves over the years. Rumour has it that they've been told by some financial boffin with nowt to do with football that they HAVE to sell, Michael Owen, Alan Smith, Mark Vurruca and possibly Obi Martins, that leaves them with....um Joey Barton? Mainly because they've thought they can compete with the big boys by offering mass amounts of wages but not bringing enough cash in, which I think is what the Kas was trying to say. In contrast, I think Keano has learnt a bit from ol' Fergie, he spent quite a bit on youths last season and we have a couple of Mackem and Durham boys with high hopes already, Martin Waghorn and David Dowson spring to mind. Grant Leadbitter still has potential. Cant remember the last time that those that shall not be mentioned ever brought a youth through....Gazza was probably the last one, even their Saviour and Lord Almighty Alan Shearer was rejected and started at Southampton. More Maggy bashing later

| He's certainly a lot calmer than he used to be but it's the kind of calm you'd see in a serial killer rather than a Yoga instructor.
