Edwin van der Sar: Best keeper in the world ever of all time ever?

He is. Feel free to discuss, but you can only discuss the degree of his greatness.

of course he is very good but i wouldn't say that he is so outstanding he clearly outclass some great other keepers.

many great keepers around like gianluigi buffon, oliver kahn, Iker Casillas...

..oh yeah and david seaman *cough*...

Yeah, I don't actually believe he's the greatest of all time, but he didn't let a single goal in in a penalty shootout today. Saved all 3 at him.

Lev Yashin and that Belgian keper Pfaff were way better than Van der Horse.

Ugly bugger did pretty well today though.

Ye, he's not bad, but towards the end of last season his long shot skills were a serious concern too all man u fans I knew (therefore something I was enjoying a lot) he's 37 now, it aint going to get better for him.

Fergi had probably intended on using the young lad in goal more and more this season but he is out now so there is a little keeper crisis at man u atm.

Nah, there's not a keeper crisis. Van der Sar will survive at least the first half of this season. As long as he holds up like he did last year we'll be sitting pretty. Kuszak can hold his own - he's pretty decent. Ben Foster is unproven, but may well be good back-up. He just needs a chance.

After that, Fergie will have all of next season's money to buy a keeper; he could potentially get whoever he wants.

Yeah, but not to Man Utd's standards. If he was under the Utd pressure, and playing with Utd players, with their defence and their tactics, he will invariably perform differently. Whether he will struggle to keep up, or if he flourishes is unproven.

Ben Foster is out for the season, so one injury to a 37yr old Van Der Sar and Kuszak is in goal with little to no back up, and lets face it Kuszak was a liability in the games he played last season.

I thought Kuszak was alright. He's not world class, but he's certainly premiership standard.

his weak point seemed to be dealing with some crosses. Work on it in training enough and that should have gotten better. As far as shot stopping goes he is very good.
