So what do you FarStarian peeps think of it. Are Religion and Politics ok with you if it is fronted in the community in such places as Guilds, citys, etc etc??

Imho i dont like it and would be glad not to see these things ingame on a guildscale basis.

Discussion about the two topics are fun, but not really in a game while typing in spatial and or by tells.

so, what ya think about this?

imho, fronting politics and religion in games such as this should be a no no. These two topics SCREAMS flaming, trashtalking, griefing, and filthy behaviour no matter what you belive and stand for. Stuff like this should never be discussed in "public". If you need to talk it out trek to the highest mountain far far away from other and have a go at religoin/poitics.

You create a GOD guild, people will be provced and create the SATAN guild to counter you and we have all that fuzz ingame to. Not only SATAN guild, but perhaps different "cults" of christianity will have a go at eachothers too?

To many are narrowminded and cant see the other sider, refuses it and just mow the opposition down. This wil happen ingame to if guild like this are "PR'd" enough.

And how about politics... ONLY REPUBLICAN GUILD... oh man... i can see this coming... flamefestextraordinaire...

im ranting / venting... but religion and politics have nothing to do with games such a this...

I stopped reading there.

Its a game that requires you to group to chop down a tree to collect resources.

Even talking to an npc is a fucking timesink.

When a game is that fucked, religion and politics cant do anything to it.

As for other games, talking religion or poitics within guild chat has never caused me any problems, in fact, its very educating to here the views of people from other countries.

Depends on what sort of guild you like to be part of though, I can see in many guilds it would just end in arguments.

Politics and Religion are an endless source of fascinating conversation if you don't engage in them with complete morons. Way too many people take it all personally and throw a paddy.

I cant imagine it would be the sort of thing id want to discuss ig, mainly because im there to play a game!... but each to their own.

edit: but that being said, if someone chose to initiate a p&r discussion ig and it was interesting, id not have a problem with it.

It should be kept at a low in my opinion. It's a game, it is meant to be fun and, to some extent, act as another world
It can be discussed of course, but in games like WoW you could just create a chatroom for it.

There seems to be religious idiots everywhere in this country, whether they be christian or muslim, but somehow they often manage to get in the news or the papers to tell everyone how they would like to practise their religion or to just blame everyone else of their problems. I wouldn't like to see anything like that enter online games.

although imagine a christian v muslim WOW BG.. would be kinda cool ^^

Discussing things is fine with me but I don't think that religous or political views should be a major factor when it comes to forming guilds, groups or finding friends. The nice thing about this online gaming is that you more often than not end up playing with people you probably wouldn't even speak to in RL. Kinda changes the perspective about the importance of politics and religion imho.

I say definitely. the main attraction of MMO's for me is the social aspect. Talking to hundreds of different people with differing opinions. Always nice to see things from different perspectives. Just ignore the nob heads though.

No it doest have any place in game unless u were playing a Religious game.

Playing computer games is a form or recreation and religion is not needed in recreation.

If i was playing Tennis or a game of Football would it be ok for some missguided dogma philiosophy to tell me where to hit the ball? Hell No.

When i play games i have an Avatar name, usually Hexis. I dont say my real name, how many kids i have, what my favorite food is, and i certianly dont say what religious background im from. Why?

Cos its not needed and it doesnt matter.

Any gamer wants to be Religious then go play ur PsP in the Church on Sunday.
