| Kismet's Zenith, a core PvP guild with strong RL and cyber ties, is recruiting to blitz The Chronicles of Spellborn, a new MMO from Spellborn NV, during its upcoming beta and release stages. If you are a carebear who feels like he can help out, a PvE player, a WoW noob, or an infrequent/casual gamer, let me do you a favor and ask that you do not waste your time by reading any further. Players looking to join should: -Be serious PvP players with solid PvP experience (don't feel over/underwhelmed by my own, my focus as a recruiter is on potential with a decent foundation -Be reasonably active - this means at least ingame chatting on a daily basis if not playing (my own activity is minimum 30 hours / week) -Be committed - this is a serious point for us - Forming a core team means we aren't looking for people who just want to check out the guild, or troll, and it definitely means we're looking for no drama - members should be committed to working together, following instructions when necessary, and being loyal to the guild. Hoppers not wanted. Recruits will have opportunity to meet and get to know several members of the guild prior to acceptance, and we're honestly a pretty cool group of people, joking is not prohibited, commitment is just one thing we take very seriously. -Have a PC that can run TCoS and Vent fluidly - If you don't have a box that can PvP without choking, we cannot accept you. -Have a mic that works -Have a reasonable command of the English language -Have play times compatible with US ones - if you live in Shanghai and we see you for an hour a day, you will not fit in adequately -Have a tolerable level of maturity - ability is what matters, but mommy-baby drama is not wanted -Have a broadband/dsl connection - no dialup Here are my own relevant credentials, as GL: -Experience in MMO gaming / beta testing / free trialing includes EQ, DAoC, EVE, CoH, GW, SCO, LOTRO, WoW, D&DO, MS, RYL2, FLYFF, and SWG. -PvP experience also includes Counterstrike, Medal of Honor, Jedi Outcast, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Supreme Commander, Red Alert 2, Halo 2, and others DAoC - I was a member of the Sacrifice (later Ataxia) guild on the Bedevere server, holding the top spot on server in RP/Member gained for virtually 2 consecutive years, despite being in the severely underpopulated realm midgard GW - I was the leader of the guild Echo Mending Pwns [EMP] later Omg Its All Over Your Face [Come], eventually reaching a stable top 200 position and some time in the top 100 guilds during the NF release, running a custom build and not a fotm gimmick. EVE - As an interceptor pilot, I was the member in charge of PvP development in The Warlords [WLOR] corporation, and led skirmishes on behalf of the Tribal Souls alliance during the BoB conflict in Southern 0.0 space Supreme Commander - I held a spot in the top 300 on the global ladder. MS - I played for 10 minutes and wanted to cut myself Anyone hoping to verify these can use the tag Gudo, though I encourage you not to delve too recently into some of the older / more broken games as I am no longer the user of the account. The ones not cited (e.g. WoW) will probably not verify because most were never revisited after beta, but I profess no expert knowledge of them, as I stopped playing usually because the game's PvP sucked. |

| Wait, why TCoS? If you're reading this far, you aren't nub at life (right?), and it's definitely worth your time to surf its website a little. (link website to http://tcos.com) For those of you pulling a tl;dr, here are 10 basic reasons why TCoS > life. 1) Far from being a grindfest, even in the obligatory "boring" PvE stages, TCoS is committed to actually being fun. To quote one of the devs, "forcing players into an instance, forcing them to do something they might not even want to do and really blocking their progression in the world felt so wrong," 2) Instead of failing at PvP balance because the classes and combat system are all structured for PvE, TCoS uses the same game mechanics in PvP and PvE, giving the two a similar metagame and making balance manageable. 3) In TCoS there are no worthless classes and there is no perfect group because while classes have unique advantages and abilities, there are no obsolete "tank," "healer," "mage" models from Dungeons & Dragons - classes are versatile and their utility comes from player skill and configuration, not preparation. 4) Dodging the boring raiding, collecting, and gearing up end-game that many mmo's have reduced players to, TCoS provides a questing end-game that seems more of an opportunity than a grind, in addition to a variety of PvP options. 5) From the start, TCoS makes motor skill (aiming, dodging, etc.) and deck creation key elements in gameplay, adding new variables to the "He's level 15, you're level 10, so he'll kill you 10 times out of 10 unless he is afk" system of most other MMOs, and making even PvE more than a mashing of senseless buttons. 6) TCoS has shed the restrictive roots of other MMOs, kicking the D&D lore that tells us that elves can't possibly be warriors and dwarves can't possibly be paladins and allow players to do their own thing, to quote the FAQ, "Unlike other "high fantasy" games, we have no stereotypes to live up to. We have no preconceptions attached to our races, so there’s no need to reinforce them with restrictions." 7) TCoS's race system ensures that no one makes an irreparable mistake in their first minutes of gameplay by making the races differ cosmetically and in lore, but not ability, curing the poor noob that made a dwarf wizard and nerfed himself for life. 8) The most important character decisions are not made in the first 5 minutes of TCoS, as character development is both flexible, via deck selection, and is done throughout the game, preventing noobs from ruining themselves forever. 9) TCoS does not encourage zerging, blobbing, whatever you want to call it (an abomination). We all need to admit it - it isn't fun - you did it because you had to, and we understand, but it's time to face the truth - it_wasn't_fun. TCoS's PvP system emphasizes the quality of players over their quantity, working towards a zerg-free environment. 10) TCoS's name is so lame, griefers won't want to play it. Let's face it....The Chronicles of Spellborn? I mean, "World of Warcraft" is no gem, but TCoS could have been named by a bunch of manatees in a tank...Well, let's look on the bright side - it's a great deterrent for the gamer that's willing to judge a book by its cover. If you think you'd fit in nicely, you want more information, or you're simply a troll hoping to spam me with hate mail, here is my contact info: AIM - don gudo Email - tcs17@duke.edu The game is due early Q1 2008, so open beta is expected in January. I will not put a hard cap on this recruitment phase but I highly reccomend that interested parties contact me within the next month or two as space is limited. Absolutely no more than 20 members. Cheers guys, |

| Don't you have anything better to do than troll, Jedel? I guess "wow nub" struck a nerve. Or should I group you in with the other poor souls that are still playing SWG as if it qualifies as a game? I don't see you throwing out your own credentials. I guess 'has 1337 raid skillz farms winterspite 4 88hrz str8t" must be the PvP background that blows me off the face of the earth. Don't make me laugh. You will not be recruited. |

I posted here because I thought this forum would be a reasonable place to find mmo gamers who want more out of their pvp experience, and would be intrigued by a severely underrated new mmo - but the troll response here has been forceful enough to demand a rabies shot - sorry if I offended ![]() Regardless of how much you've all evidently taken a disliking to me, you should look into the game if you really aren't wow nubs (which I'm starting to doubt, in some cases...) - it's an amazing opportunity for pvp |

| I play EVE and LOTRO atm, but yes i have played WoW and practically every MMO that comes my way. I think your whole format for recruiting is totally wrong though. Better first say hi, then say about a cool new game linking screenshots and stuff then ask if anyone fancies a being in your PvP guild if they are interested in it. Bursting onto the forum being an elitest jerk and critting everyone with /aoewalloftext4 will only get you flames.
