Yeah.

1.5 gig for the download, then probably 1.5 gigs for install (slightly more than installer, normally, right?). that's 3 gigs. Plus game saves... that could be another gig right there, 'eh? So, tack on a bit to be on the safe side.

The game i think i saved the most was UFO: enemy unknown. I used to save just before i landed at a UFO crash or raided a base. and everytime i fired off a blaster launcher and and at the end of everyone of my turns.

Just because there was so many ways to blow the crap out of yourself just by moving 1 square or having a buggy blaster launcher which takes out 3/4 of your team.

Saves are usually pretty damn small.

My WoW screenshots folder is 2.65Gb though.

Well just about every game installs to a temp folder then copies to the final destination so full game x2 = 7g would be my assumption.
No reason you would release spec's just for the demo, they will be for full version.

The demo plays kinda ok, and my laptop runs it on lowest level graphics, which is nice.

I quite like it tbh. Would be more fun with other people, so when it goes release I don't think I'm gonna bother with singleplayer, and just co-op it.
