| How many wars have you seen, murders, unrest & hatred between people have you seen over your lifetime? I bet you can think of a few right? Most (or nearly) all come from a Religious base. If religion is about peace and goodwill etc, why are so many 'religious' people at War with each other? Surely they would sit down and have a chat about it with some tea and biscuits? If 'God' or 'Gods' existed, they wouldnt allow this to happen - bollocks to 'It happens for a reason' thats just not good enough. They dont exist, simple as. |

![]() Or treat other people like shit. Now the laws in other middle eastern countries can be discussed I agree. But there is nothing in the bible that says that you should be cruel or treat anyone with disrespect. Not even non-believers. Well Gil, that statement has been used many times. But if you want a religious answer to it I believe such one could be like this: God has placed us on earth to live our lives. Now if we want to do evil or to do good. That's up to each one. But the choices of our lives will have consequences just as everything else. It's a sort of trial each person has. We live to learn and evolve. Now if god exists or not, there's noone who knows. Just people who are more or less sure about it. There's nothing wrong with having something to believe in. No offence taken ofcourse, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Quote:

| I think it's tempting to blame religion for all the wars but as we've seen in the 20th century as religion fades, war grows. The only common denominator for 100% of wars throughout history is mankind. There's a great South Park episode where Cartman is frozen and wakes up thousands of years in the future where the human race battles it out in the name of atheism. Funny as hell but the serious point is plain to see. The one thing about Islam is that in the Qur'an it does promote the use of holy wars against infidels. It's worth bearing in mind though that Islam covers not only faith but government and politics. It's where it differs with Christianity in that the Christianity does not explicitly tell you how to run your government and your country.

As I said. I'm still not persuaded of the Quran encourages people to start holy wars. It also depends how you interpret it. I've also questioned alot of religious statements which I thought meant hostile things. But when I've confronted religious people about them they have explained them into further detail which has turned out which wasn't really what I interpreted it. |

Leviticus 18:22 teaches people to treat homosexuals like shit. Exodus 21:7 teaches people to treat their daughters like shit - unless you don't think selling people into slavery is treating them wrongly? Leviticus 25:44 teaches people to treat the citizens of neighbouring countries like shit for the same reason above. Exodus 35:2 teaches people to treat people like shit by killing them for fucking working on a Sunday. Leviticus 11:10 says that eating fucking shellfish is an abomination, just like homosexuality. ...need any more? |

. Not requesting that she should be.Leviticus 18:22 - Only says it's a disgusting thing to have sex with someone of the same sex. Nor to treat them like shit or be disrespectful. Leviticus 25:44 - Same thing applies here. Was written during an old era. Exodus 35:2 - Only states that it is a resting day, and such Saturdays and Sundays usually are. And it's the same here. Time changes and companies employ people to work on Saturday and Sundays, so what do you do? ![]() Leviticus 11:10 - Only says the things living in the sea are a disgusting thing ![]() And I bet most people think they are horrible too ![]() Not that you're not allowed to eat them really Last edited by Tagert; 06-19-2008 at 03:25 PM. |
