quickfind code: 108787

or 2-Freecom 160GB External USB2.0 Hard Drive - Retail £51.82

No problem. I'd always go with a brand name I recognise.

Freecom are ok, they'll have made the enclosure with someone else's HD inside it, same for Buffalo. Seagate have never done me wrong though.

I contemplated getting one of those, then i realised i don't really need one, and would only drop/lose it if i did get one.

yeh i was considering raid but it was all confusing... i wanted to keep one disk seperate like you for windows and stuff i use alot so that it boots quick....

i dunno if raid effects booting/loading times...i figured it would if ur merging like 4 different hard drives together

it confubbles me hehe

No idea why the hell you'd wanna install a RAID setup and then not have Windows installed on it. o_O

dunno really, i buy big raid drives that store a lot of crap on them..and when i do fresh windows installs i dont wanna have to wipe them.

i guess i have it the wrong way round..sata for storage and normal drive for windows.

Stick Windows on a partition on the RAID array, that way you can nuke that partition any time you like without affecting your files partition.

Although that kinda raises the question of why you'd bother to stick a couple drives in a RAID array for home storage.

If they're striped for performance you're increasing your chances of data loss, and if they're mirrored you're wasting half the space!

yup IIRc they are striped for performance.

and I didnt know you could partition RAID drives! so I can have 2 physcial drives acting as one unit...then partition it?
