I've had a few phones unlocked myself. There is a shop in Bradford (though i expect they will be everywhere) that will unlock any phone for you for under a fiver. Go find one of those places and then just buy any old phone

EDIT : Nothing like carphone warehouse or something well established, something that is obviously just someones business
